The incumbent serves as an Archives Technician in the Yellowstone National Park Archives, a division of the park's museum program housed in the Yellowstone Heritage and Research Center. The Archives is a multifaceted professional repository, which is an Affiliated Archives of the National Archives and Records Administration and houses one of the largest collections in the National Park Service. The incumbent assists with a funded project to digitize and make available to the public historic maps, architectural drawings, and other oversized materials. Scans fragile archival materials to technical standards using professional best practices. Performs basic arrangement and description of small archival collections or addenda to larger collections, conducts condition assessment and performs basic preservation actions. Writes descriptions, develops metadata, and catalogs materials in the National Park Service Interior Collection Management System (ICMS) and local bibliographic utilities. Assists researchers in locating and using collection materials and responds to distance reference inquiries. Participates in outreach activities to highlight project and promote awareness of and use of collection materials.
