Works as a team member to ensure that turf and meadow maintenance interfaces seamlessly with overall park operations and objectives. Plans for prevention of damage, rest, and recovery from events, and other use impacts, and assesses damage and provides recommended remediation efforts from events that impact the turf. Implements preventative and ongoing maintenance schedules based upon type of turf, soil, irrigation, and drainage microclimate, as well as conditions related to soil compaction and nutrition, fungus, pests, etc. Conducts inspections, prepares recommendations and reports, and maintains detailed records and data of landscape maintenance operations and historical records. Serves as an event monitor facilitating the use of proper turf and soil protection measures, documenting permit compliance, and reporting on potential cost recovery items in a timely manner.
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

Physical Demands: Frequently lifts heavy objects such as bags of fertilizer, grass seed, etc. up to 80 pounds. Incumbent is required to work below and above ground level. Irrigation work is often performed in confined spaces, excavated holes and trenches. The work requires regular field inspections, investigations, or surveys in which there is considerable amount of walking, stooping, looking up, and bending which includes working outside in weather conditions varying from hot, humid summers to below freezing temperatures in winter. Snow removal requires lifting 50 lb bags of deicer, often in slippery conditions.
Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in an outdoor setting, where there is exposure to the various risks and discomforts associated with a field environment when inspecting sites with the inherent dangers therein. This involves moderate risks and discomforts necessitating special safety precautions; e.g., working around moving machinery and equipment, scaffolding and raising platforms; exposure to noxious chemicals requiring the use of protective clothing, footwear, and safety gear. Exposure to inclement weather is possible on these occasions. Work may occur during inclement weather such as rain, snow, or high temperatures. Incumbent is required to respond to emergency needs during weekends, holidays, and off duty hours to perform snow removal, flood cleanup, storm damage, special events, or as directed by management.
