    This postion is located in National Capital Regional Office, in the Natural Resources Division; acting as the technical advisor to the National Capital Area parks on aquatic ecology.

    TERM positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed thirteen months, with possible extensions up to a total of four years without further competition.

    • Serves as aquatic ecologist/water resources specialist for the NPS units in the National Capital Region I&M Network (NCRN).
    • Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing the NCRN Water Monitoring Protocols.
    • Designs, writes, tests, revises, and implements scientific monitoring protocols to conduct long-term monitoring of water quality and quantity and to evaluate watershed health.
    • Conducts statistical analysis of complex data, integrating chemical, biological, and ecological indicators, to determine and document watershed health.
    • Writes and publishes scientific reports documenting the results of inventory, monitoring, and research efforts for use by the scientific community, park staff, cooperators and partners.

    Occasional travel - Occasional travel for meetings and training may be required.
