    This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence (USD(I)), Office of the Director for Defense Intelligence (Intelligence & Security) (DDI(I&S)). The USD(I) serves as the principal staff assistant (PSA) to the Secretary of Defense (SecDef) regarding Intelligence, Counterintelligence (CI), Security, sensitive activities, and other intelligence-related matters (referred to as Defense Intelligence, CI, and Security).

    Your typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Develops and reviews policies and procedures, coordinates within the executive branch and across DoD, and oversees implementation of the DoD personnel security programs
    • Initiates, interprets, and reviews policies and procedures that pertain to all aspects of the DoD personnel security programs and participates in the oversight of its implementation
    • Identifies strengths, weaknesses or vulnerabilities in the DoD personnel security programs, and develops and coordinates new or revised security policies and procedures to correct deficiencies or address potential challenges
    • Serves as a trusted advisor on personnel security policy and processes across DoD
    • Supports oversight visits of DoD components to determine and assess strengths and vulnerabilities within the DoD personnel security programs
    • Recommends changes to security programs and policy consistent with oversight assessment findings, identified vulnerabilities, and anticipated needs
    This Position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1601, For more information see http://dcips.dtic.mil Selection under this appointment authority does not confer civil service competitive status.

    If selected, Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for a DCIPS excepted service positions.

    If selected, non-DCIPS candidates must acknowledge that the position they have been selected for is in the excepted service and covered by DCIPS.
