Help

The incumbents will assist in storm patrol, cleaning out of roadside ditches, and clearing of culverts before and after storm events as an ongoing effort after a devastating fire burned all of the park's land. In preparation of storm events, the incumbents will take preventative measures to clear drainage features of trees, brush, burned and downed logs, and rocks and debris. Incumbents will assist Heavy equipment operators in installing rock armor to drainage areas and culvert inlets as necessary. Incumbents assess for any potential damages to the roads and infrastructure such as unplugging culverts that may have caused stream diversions onto the roads surface. If the culverts are plugged or damaged; then the areas will be cleaned out immediately to avoid further damage during the next rainfall event. Additionally, other values at risk (buildings, water supply facilities, diversion structures, etc.) adjacent to channels will be assessed by the incumbent during storm patrols.
As directed by the supervisor, in addition to other duties will assist in: 1) removing damaged portions of walls or other similar architectural features in preparation for repair or implementation of new wet/dry walls; 2) implementing prescribed preservation treatments (excavating, resetting, wet/dry laying rock, etc.); and 3) recording the location, time, materials, and labor involved in the treatment process. Incumbent is responsible for selecting the proper tools and materials as instructed and maintains responsibility for keeping all tools and equipment utilized in a clean, serviceable, and safe condition. Incumbent is required to work in a safe manner for the protection of self and fellow workers, particularly when using mechanical tools and equipment. Duties will also include general trail maintenance such as clearing of drainage features, out sloping trail tread, logging and brushing of trails, bridge repair and/or construction, routine painting, rough carpentry, janitorial, trash pick-up, raking of trail tread, and transporting construction materials.
