Physical Demands: The work may require standing or sitting for long periods of time, walking for long distances, climbing and descending steep inclines, traversing uneven terrain, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to the high volume of personal contacts, occasional emergency responses, and repetitive nature of some of the tasks.
Working Conditions: Incumbent is expected to spend approximately 70% of their work time in the field. Event management requires outdoor work, often in inclement weather during extremely hot and sunny conditions, with occasional work in cold, windy or rainy conditions. The event environment includes crowds, noise, dust and automobile exhaust. Weekend work is part of normal tour of duty.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
