Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide accurate and reliable administrative information and assistance to employees and supervisors/managers.
  • Serve as a human resources liaison between park staff and the Servicing Human Resources Office (SHRO).
  • Provide customer service and support for the practical and technical aspects of office administration, including human resources, payroll, and travel.
  • Use word processing, spreadsheet, or database programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, as well as platforms such as Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

  • Minimum Age Requirement: You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a one-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.

This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. Qualifications

Probationary information continuted:

Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated.

Upon completion of your probationary your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-08/27/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.

This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. If you do not provide evidence that you possess the following screen out factor(s) will be rated not qualified.

Office Automation (OA) Position: The duties of this position require the applicant to demonstrate the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Applicants must indicate on their resume that they meet this requirement by providing a typing speed of 40 words per minute or greater. Applications that do not document the required typing speed will not be considered for the Office Automation position.

AND

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications for this Administrative Support Assistant (OA), GS-0303-05 position:

Experience: Possessing at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that provided the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience include performing administrative functions (e.g., payroll, personnel, travel, and/or correspondence), using office procedures and equipment, organizing and analyzing information, typing correspondence, memos, reports, and forms from rough drafts, and notes, answering telephone calls, filing and meeting and dealing effectively with others. You must include hours per week worked.

OR

Education: Have successful completion of at least four years of education above high school. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. You must include transcripts

OR

Combination: A combination of education and specialized experience as described above that, when combined, meets 100 percent of the qualification requirement. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. For example, I have six months of the specialized experience described in A above (50% of the experience requirement), and three years of college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education).


You must meet the following minimum qualifications for GS-0303-06:

Experience: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to: answering questions/providing guidance to employees regarding payroll issues; coordinating human resource activity; providing guidance to supervisors and management on personnel issues; using automated systems; assisting staff with Office of Workers Compensation issues; knowledge and application of regulatory requirements; verify time and leave balances; providing program and administrative support; and maintaining files. You must include hours per week worked.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

You must submit a copy of your transcript(s) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include your name, school name, grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, and date the degree was conferred, if applicable. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not qualified for the position. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs. Note: GS-6 position does not allow substituting education for experience.

Additional information

This position will be filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority. Eligibility is limited to applicants who reside within the defined local commuting area at the time of application. For this announcement, the local commuting area is the area from which individuals can reasonably commute to the duty station under normal conditions. The defined vicinity for this position is: 75 miles from Pipe Spring National Monument 406 Pipe Spring Rd, Fredonia, AZ 86022. You must provide proof of residency within the defined vicinity (e.g. mortgage or property deed, lease/rental agreement, utility bill, insurance policy, etc.).
