Help

As a Maintenance Worker Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Responsible for daily workflow for Grounds, Roads and Trails branches at park units as well as the maintenance shop activities.
  • Assists the Chief of Maintenance with developing annual work plans and budgets.
  • Conducts annual condition assessments and tracks and reports all labor, material, and equipment orders utilizing Facility Management Software System.
  • Performs typical administrative functions of a supervisor such as preparing recruitment packages, classification packages, on- and off-boarding of staff, implementing short term work plans, assigning work, directing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others, writing scopes of work (SOW), overseeing various programs and agreements (e.g. youth activities), and overseeing and tracking of budgets.
  • Provides experienced and professional services and administrative supervision over subordinates performing various trades and labor occupations.
  • Provides professional and technical support and knowledge on utilities, trades and crafts such as road repair and maintenance, landscape maintenance for grasses, shrubs and trees, drainage, storm sewer systems, painting, trails, grounds keeping, and janitorial services.
Petersburg National Battlefield is approximately 2,800 acres split into 5 main units that are spread out over two cities and counties. Park headquarters and the main visitor center are located just outside Petersburg, VA. There are visitor contact stations and facilities at the Five Forks and City Point units in Dinwiddie County and Hopewell, respectively. Petersburg NB protects the sites of the siege of Petersburg during the American Civil War and Poplar Grove National Cemetery. There are 18 miles of trails, 8 miles of roads, and over 300 acres of mowed battlefield and earthworks.

  • Serves as Contracting Officers Representative (COR). Must be able to obtain/maintain FAC-COR certification with 9 months of entry on duty.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

  4. Knowledge of Materials

  7. Use of Measuring Instruments.

This position will be filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority. Eligibility is limited to applicants who reside within the defined local commuting area at the time of application. For this announcement, the local commuting area is the area from which individuals can reasonably commute to the duty station under normal conditions. The defined vicinity for this position is within 50 miles of duty station of Petersburg, VA.
