WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As an Public Health Advisor , you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Plans, develops, and implements public health programs in collaboration with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial and/or international governments and various public, non-profit, and private and health-related organizations.
  • Coordinates the development and dissemination of information, education materials, technical assistance tools and resources to state, local, tribal and territorial (SLTT) public health officials, health agencies, professional groups, private and public sector organizations, and the media using products such as press releases, talking papers, and fact sheets to alert public or lay users about specific problems or update on SNS capabilities.
  • Designs, develops, implements, manages, and evaluates, SNS MCM preparedness activities and special projects.
  • Establishes, develops, and maintains effective partnerships with SLTT public health officials, emergency management officials, community organizations, health care agencies, tribal liaisons, federal agency partners, corrections officials, and others who can positively impact the successful outcome of the agency's mission for SNS MCM preparedness.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least ALL of the following:

  • Working in a public health emergency preparedness program.
  • Participating in training a workforce in the development or implementation of medical countermeasures plans, training, and exercises.
  • Developing tools and resources for public health information systems to provide technical assistance.
  • Advising on policies and procedures related to working with SNS medical countermeasure preparedness programs at the state, tribal, local, or territorial levels.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
