Duties

Help

As the Administrative Support Assistant in this position, you will:

  • Monitor and track obligations and expenditures throughout the budget execution phase.
  • Process various transactions such as obligations, collections, distributions, reconciliations in the automated financial system.
  • Prepare, edit, and finalize correspondence for office supervisors and managers.
  • Provide assistance in the completion of records reviews, inventories, and dispositions in accordance with records schedule. Provide assistance organizing the district records library.
  • Process daily incoming and out-going mail.
  • Provide general information about the office and the lands managed by the Coos Bay District to the public both orally and in writing.
  • Provide back-up manning for front reception desk operations.
  • Host meetings and training classes.
  • Prepare conference rooms or other venues for Timber Sales, or meetings of all kinds.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying.


A. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following:

  • Analyzing historical financial data to develop or monitor budgetary operations.
  • Processing daily activities in the areas of fleet vehicle, property, procurement, travel, or time and attendance.
  • Providing information of services to others.

Status merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).

  • Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally. You must be eligible to obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
Physical Demands: The work is typicall sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, or driving a motor vehicle. The incumbent may frequently lift relatively light boxes, materials, and supplies and/or carry file folders, copied materials, books, and other similar materials.

Working Conditions: Work is typically located in adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office environment. The work environment may involve everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, mail distribution centers, meeting and training rooms, libraries, or motor vehicles.
