As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist you will:

  • Ensure the comprehensive planning and execution of ~100 person SAFe Agile Release Train business process transformation and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Digital Thread/Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) application delivery to maximize business outcomes and benefits to our partners and stakeholders. Incumbent will also ensure the SAFe-based operating model evolves to meet the needs of the organization and team.
  • Utilize knowledge of the product development lifecycle to identify and pursue risks and opportunities that can be resolved with digital thread, digital engineering tools, and model-based business process transformation investments.
  • Apply skill and experience in leading business process redesign and organizational change initiatives, including training, communication, leadership engagement and user adoption strategies, particularly in a multi-site environment.
  • Utilize knowledge of the how manufacturing production organizations convert product design into manufactured product to identify and pursue risks and opportunities that can be resolved with digital thread, digital engineering tool, and model-based business process transformation investments.
  • Utilize knowledge of the how customer requirements drive lower level requirements, system functional design, system physical design, and product Verification & Validation (V&V) plans leading to product qualification and certification to identify and pursue risks and opportunities that can be resolved with digital thread, digital engineering tool, and model-based business process transformation investments.

Specialized Experience Statement: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service i.e., NN-02 or GS-11.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience conducting at least 3 of the following activities:

1. Delivering nuclear weapons or other high-risk systems
2. Implementing state-of-the-art software for product design and production
3. Deploying enterprise digital engineering tools, such as product definition management systems, requirements management systems, and data integration systems
4. Negotiating mutual-win digital solutions across a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, such as NNSA's nuclear weapon labs, plants, and sites
5. Communicating program strategic goals, priorities, accomplishments, and hurdles to technical and non-technical audiences, across varying organizational levels, from implementation teams to senior leadership

Education

0801/1301:
To qualify for the (0801) Engineering series, you must possess:
A degree in professional engineering. The curriculum must: 1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a professional engineering curriculum; or 2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: a) statics, dynamics; b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; d) thermodynamics; e) electrical fields and circuits; f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

To qualify for the (1301) Physical Science series, you must possess:
A degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
