The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science is looking for a dynamic, innovative, seasoned executive to serve as the Argonne Site Office (ASO) Manager. This is a leadership position that implements DOE policy and direction for the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) contract.
As the ASO Manager, you will:
Establish and communicate DOE requirements and expectations, authorize work, provide funds for the work, review, and approve work products, and provide feedback to the Management and Operating (M&O) contractor.
Maintain a comprehensive operational awareness of the ANL M&O contractor's activities and facility conditions.
Confirm M&O contractor assurance system, ensuring compliance with the requirements in the contract.
In partnership with the ANL and the M&O, identify and implement actions to accomplish high quality science consistent with appropriate Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
Conduct outreach activities and represent DOE with other Federal, State, and local government officials, regulatory, and business, academic, and industry leaders concerning ANL in order to increase customer satisfaction and stakeholder involvement, as well as enhance community and public trust.
Serve as a leader and manager for the on-site Federal workforce. Manage the Site Office budget, and federal business systems to ensure the effective and efficient operation. Establish goals and objectives for the Site Office.
Unless the selectee is already a member of the SES with career status or has successfully completed an SES Candidate Development Program certified by OPM, executive qualifications must be approved by OPM before the appointment can be effected.

An individual's initial SES career appointment becomes final only after the individual successfully completes a one-year probationary period.
May be required to pass a pre-employment drug test; random testing after appointment.

Qualifications

MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (MTQs):As part of your application package, asupplemental narrative must be uploaded addressing each MTQ listed below. Demonstrates a general understanding of science and technology, as well as a working knowledge of and ability to oversee a wide variety of business and operational management systems such as project management; maintenance and infrastructure; environment, safety and health; security; procurement; financial management; and human resources management. There is a particular emphasis on environment, safety, and health management.
MTQ 2: Demonstrated executive skill in communicating with senior management officials in the public or private sector, scientists, engineers, safety professionals, and the public to develop support for complex or controversial programs and/or respond to concerns.

How you will be evaluated
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
You will be evaluated on the quality and extent of your total accomplishments, experience, and education (if applicable).
