WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY:

As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Developing and interpreting policies, processes and related standards including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) in accordance with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and Administration for Children and Families (ACF) applicable Federal government requirements, guidance, and directives.
  • Providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical Information Technology (IT) issues that provides the expertise to make informed decisions or recommendations that significantly influence important ACF's IT policies or programs.
  • Leading the dissemination of advisories to system owners and the Assessment and Authorization team and provides vulnerability information dissemination sources (e.g., alerts, advisories, errata, and bulletins).
  • Conducting vulnerability management tracking and reviews.
  • Leading and conducting studies designed to identify potential improvements in the way IT is applied to key business functions applying business process engineering concepts and methods.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Basic Requirements for 2210 Series:

Applicants must have Information Technology (IT) related experience demonstrating each of the four (4) competencies listed below:

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to meeting the basic requirements described above, applicants must also meet additional minimum qualification requirements as stated below.

GS-12 Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify for this GS-12 position, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service by performing the following tasks:

  1. Identifying, assessing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities, performing IT security assessments, analyzing, and documenting risk management processes and knowledge of compliance and privacy regulations.
  2. Developing and implementing security policies, security architecture, and security awareness programs
  3. Developing, implementing, and administering security awareness and training programs.
GS-13 Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify for this GS-13 position, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-12 level in the federal service by performing the following tasks:
  1. Developing, implementing, and maintaining vulnerability risk management programs.
  2. Communicating security and risk management strategies to stakeholders and senior management.
  3. Experience in developing and managing response plans for potential cyber incidents.

If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
