WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Child Care Program Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Apply analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to compile, analyze and evaluate and summarize data, identify problems, analyze alternatives, draw conclusions, and recommend solutions on issues concerning technical assistance.
  • Provide technical advice/assistance related to CCDF policy and program implementation, and
    technical assistance issues to support States, Territories and Tribes.
  • Develop and revise child care program policy, regulatory, and guideline materials.
  • Draft responses related to technical, programmatic, and policy issues raised by stakeholders.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding child care issues and concerns.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least 2 of the following:

  1. Provide technical assistance related to child care and/or other early childhood programs at the local, state, regional and/or national level.
  2. Analyze data related to child care and/or early childhood development programs in order to evaluate services to improve effectiveness of programs or to address items of concern.
  3. Develop or provide input into written guidance on matters related to issues in child care and/or early childhood development programs.

If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
