Duties

Help
  • Assists Specialist in preparation of guidance in estate planning and drafting of wills, life estates, codicils, and revocations of wills.
  • Maintains statistical records on estate planning, estate administration, will drafting and summary distributions.
  • Maintains data in automated probate tracking systems.
  • Prepares documentation and assembles outgoing material of trust assets to close estate accounts in accordance with Orders issued by the Administrative Law Judges or Attorney Decision Makers.
  • Receives calls, greets visitors and answers inquiries from owners.
  • Types correspondence, reports, memorandum, and other documents.
  • Maintains record management.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for One-Grade Interval Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-0962).

GS-7: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level assisting probate specialists in the preparation of guidance in estate planning to assist clients in drafting of wills, life estates, codicils, revocations of wills. Review probate system reports for statistical analysis in regard to estate planning, estate administration, will drafting and summary distributions, and provides assistance on future disposition or transfer of trust and restricted property. These examples are not all inclusive (refer to the summary of duties for specialized experience).

GS-6: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level assisting probate specialists by providing technical assistance work in support of probate processes; maintain data tracking system; prepare necessary and proper documentation for distribution of trust assets to close estate accounts, assemble outgoing material according to policy procedures, files and maintains probate records; assisting with incoming and outgoing mail. These examples are not all inclusive (refer to the summary of duties for specialized experience).

GS-5: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level assisting probate specialist by providing technical assistance work in support of probate processes; maintain data tracking systems; assist with incoming and outgoing mail; prepare documentation for distribution of trust assets; and files and maintains probate records. These examples are not all inclusive (refer to the summary of duties for specialized experience)

EDUCATION:
Four (4) years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field at an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.)

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
