WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a IT Specialist (Data Management), you will use your knowledge of and experience with information technology to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  1. Working in administering IT accounts and access to systems, databases, and equipment. Ensuring the rigorous application of information security information assurance, policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of data management services. Developing programs to ensure that systems and data users are aware of, and understand, and adhere to security policies. Ensuring all guidance and work products comply with SAMHSA and DHHS IT security requirements. Planning and schedules installation of software packages, operating systems, and new or modified hardware.
  2. Assisting in the assessment of IT needs and operations as they relate to the program IT requirements, formulating recommendations, and implementing selected investments to ensure they continues to meet necessary demands. Coordinating hardware/software implementation for IT projects, works with vendor engineering staffs, and providing overall technical expertise and guidance on related issues to teleprocessing network facility (e.g., providing environmental relocation support to the user community nationwide, providing support needed, etc.).
  3. Working in administering IT accounts and access to systems, databases, and equipment. Ensuring the rigorous application of information security information assurance, policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of data management services. Developing programs to ensure that systems and data users are aware of, and understand, and adhere to security policies. Basic Requirements:
Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies:

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

AT THE GS-12
Specialized Experience:
To qualify for this Information Technology Specialist (DATAMGMT), GS-2210-12 position at the GS-12 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis:

  1. Contributing to the design, implementation, and/or maintenance of databases and ensuring the security and integrity of all data stored within the databases;
  2. Evaluating systems architecture, enterprise architecture, and IT infrastructure standards; and
  3. Analyzing and defining data requirements and specifications or modifying systems or database configurations to correct problems impacting data integrity and availability.

If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
