Help

As a Management and Program Analyst within the Office of the Director, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Evaluates methods, processes, and procedures; analyzes requirements; research and data analysis; recommends actions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Develops project plans; coordinates research and analyses on programmatic/administrative issues; coordinates with USGS staff and USGS Liaison to provide and exchange information.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements new techniques and approaches; develops project plans; compiles and analyzes information; ensures compliance evaluates progress and identifies areas for improvement

Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position?

Qualifications

GS-0343-12
Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level:
One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.
To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service.
Examples of GS-11 level work: 1) Analyzes and evaluates (on a quantitative or qualitative basis) the effectiveness of program operations in meeting established goals and objectives; 2) designs, develops, implements, and maintains systems and processes to track progress toward and/or completion of tasks, milestones, or goals; 3) plans and carries out assignments independently, resolving most of the conflicts that arise; 4) coordinates work with other programs, including senior managers of both scientific and administrative programs; 5) meets objectives and deadlines by extending or modifying existing techniques or approaches to solve problems; 6) interprets technical information to effectively communicate it to non-technical audiences; 7) organizes and plans meetings, events, and presentations for managers and/or senior executives; and 8) evaluates and makes recommendations to improve program, processes, and/or products.

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
  • Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the above requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
