    What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?

    This is a term appointment not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service.

    Salary: $43,683 (Step 01) to $56,790 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

    Responsibilities

    As a Physical Scientist within the Geology, Minerals, Energy and Geophysics Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

    -Scanning, georeferencing, and digitizing geologic information currently captured on analog maps.
    -Compilation and synthesis of digital geologic map data.
    -Production and documentation of cartographic products, graphics, and databases for publication of geologic mapping.
    -Documentation of workflows and FGDC-compliant metadata.
    -Establishment of procedures and methodologies to ensure compliance with the Regional Geologic Map Schema (rGeMS), a newly developed geologic map standard not yet used by our group.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Overnight travel of 1-2 nights per month may be required.
