    This position is located in the Office of Communications in the National Park Service's (NPS) National Capital Area headquarters. The office explains NPS policies and stewardship responsibilities and highlights the opportunities park and community programs make available to people in the region and visitors from around the world.

    • Serve as a primary agency spokesperson on a variety of complex, often controversial, issues with tight deadlines.
    • Develop and implement strategic communication plans in coordination with colleagues at the local, regional and national levels.
    • Develop, write, and disseminate communication products.
    • Research and respond to requests for information from the media.
    • Plan and execute complex public announcements and special events.
    • Supervise subordinate staff.
