    This position is located in the Department of Health And Human Services, Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia.

    Responsibilities

    • Plans, designs and executes FOIA activities for HHS Offices.
    • Formulates long and short range plans for development of a positive program of information supply.
    • Develops guidelines for use by HHS agencies.
    • Serves as advisor to HHS officials on FOIA matters. Serves as authoritative point of contact with the public and special interest groups.
    • Reviews and analyzes highly complex and controversial FOIA requests and makes determinations to grant or deny requests.
    • Reviews proposed Department regulations and amendments or revisions to regulations implementing FOIA.
    • Organizes and conducts on-going training in the administration of FOIA requests for the FOIA offices.
    • Provides continuous direction and supervison to a professional and administrative staff in accomplishing the Division's goals and objectives.
