This position is being advertised under a OPM governmentwide Direct Hire issued on October 11, 2018 for Scientific, Technical, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and cybersecurity related positions nationwide. Perform scientific analysis, investigation, and research on the chemical and physical properties of food components, drugs, antibiotics, agricultural chemicals, immunogenic agents, biological products, and/or environmental agents.
Develop and modify analytical methods or research projects to study the composition, molecular structure, chemical properties, and chemical reactions of substances in natural and manmade environments.
Assist in writing comprehensive statistical and analytical reports from scientific investigations studies and projects.
Participate in developing analytical methods and extending their application to other substances, designing new sampling and sample preparation procedures and validation and collaborative studies.
You must be a United States Citizen, National, or other permanent lawful resident owing allegiance to the United States, to be considered.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
In order be eligible for the position of Chemist, (GS-1320-11/12/13), you must meet the following requirements...
Have a degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics. OR
Have a combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major listed above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service.
Such experience will be determined based upon the position to be filled.
