This position is being advertised under a OPM governmentwide Direct Hire issued on October 11, 2018 for Scientific, Technical, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and cybersecurity related positions nationwide. Duties

Help
  • Review statistical methods for the analysis of data, primarily from clinical studies.
  • Serve as a specialist in statistical methodology and its applications and collaborates with other FDA scientists in the evaluation of regulated studies and the conduct of primary research activities.
  • Suggest and veriy methods and analyses in pilot studies, clinical trials, laboratory studies and other research projects to assure validity of inferences obtained from these studies.
  • Provide consultation and/or analyze data from studies utilizing sophisticated analytical techniques.
  • Analyze data to determine the safety and/or effectiveness of animal drugs, foods, and devices, which may involve consideration of data from a variety of sources.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
In order to be eligible for the position of Mathematical Statistician,
(GS-1529-11/12/13), you must meet the following requirements...

Basic Qualifications - Mathematical Statistician, GS-1529-11/12/13:

A. I have earned a degree that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.

OR

B. I have a combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. ?

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade levelin the Federal service.
Specialized experience will be determined based upon the position to be filled.
