Status Candidates (Merit Promotion DOI employees, LMWFA, CTAP)
The primary purpose of the position is to perform recurring building and or utility maintenance and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher-graded workers. The incumbent utilizes knowledge and skills with primary work dealing with the following: water plant operation and waste-water lift station, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing and masonry. Incumbent performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings, including laborer grounds work, and transporting materials and supplies to the work site. Incumbent must be able to operate a forklift and backhoe.
As part of site support team, assists with special projects periodically as directed. Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work sites. Job requires strong work ethics and safe working practices.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate, and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Working Conditions: Exposure to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -40 to 90+ degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposure to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks, and biting insects.
