Elementary school (grades K-6) is available in Springdale with bus service provided. Junior high and high school is available in Hurricane with bus service provided. Dixie State University is located in St. George and Southern Utah University is located in Cedar City.

The incumbent serves as an Archives Technician at the Museum in Zion National park; a multi-park museum management program. The Zion Museum is a dynamic professional organization which manages the museum collections for Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and Zion National Park. The incumbent performs collection appraisal, arrangement and description resulting in a fully processed collection and a finding aid and full catalog record for the National Park Service Interior Collection Management System (ICMS) for a selected accessioned collection in the Zion Museum. Performs initial inventory of archival collections to remove non-archival materials and refines database descriptions to support full processing. Collection contains oversize maps, plans, and drawings from the concessionaire. Performs review of existing ICMS system records for selected archival collections and makes corrections/additions to information as necessary to develop full and complete records which can be used for collections management and reference access. Supports web outreach through publication of selected historic documents or finding aids.

You will be required to complete a one-year trial period.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by the close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: the operation or management of a museum or similar collection of valuable records. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include collections management, registration, cataloging, research, preservation, restoration, or conservation of collections of museum material. You must include hours per week worked for each position held on your resume.
EDUCATION: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. In order to qualify for this position based on education, you must submit transcripts. Please see the "Required Documents" section of this announcement for more information.
Education and experience may be combined to meet the specialized experience requirement.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

Physical Demands: The work is partially sedentary with prolonged standing, walking, and bending often required. Heavy items (e.g., boxes and collection items up to 50 pounds) must be lifted or moved on a routine basis.
Working Conditions: Most of the work is performed in a museum environment of exhibit and storage areas, workroom/laboratory, and offices. Regular work is required in cool to cold storage facilities. Occasional work with materials which are dusty or stored with protective chemicals may require the use of dust masks, gloves, or other protective devices.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
