As a Health Systems Specialist, GS-0671-12/13, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Use all resources to provide the best possible patient care for members of the Presidency and White House Medical Unit (WHMU) entities.
Plan, organize, and implement medical standards activities for the WHMU, as well as providing consultative services to members of the Presidency and WHMU entities on medical standard issues.
Develop and present to the WHMU and WHMO executive staff, protocols for the management of evolving medical standards for newly designated "waiverable" medical conditions or medications.
Serve as the principle staff member responsible for ensuring, directing, and reporting executive-level patient access to health care.
Ensure compliance with all health care laws (to include the Health Insurance Portability Assurance Act (HIPAA)), rules, policies, decisions and guidance from higher authority.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the private sector or Federal service that demonstrates your ability to perform work that involves experience with principles and practices of health care delivery system to analyze, advise on and coordinate various aspects of performance improvement, patient care evaluation, productivity, and management.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the private sector or Federal service that demonstrates your ability to perform work that involves: (1) experience providing clinical healthcare services requiring interpretation of various medical regulation and directives; AND (2) experience providing, conducting, or implementing healthcare services, reviews, inspections, and program evaluations; (3) performing data analysis in order to provide recommendations of program process improvement and overall planning of healthcare inspections.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education
A degree in Public Health or Allied Sciences is highly desirable.
