The Associate Director, Business Services directs all Business Service Programs for the NPS which is composed of over 415 offices, field areas, park units and program centers, and the Washington Area Service Office (WASO) with 10 separate directorates. The Associate Director, Business Services exercises executive oversight and direction for the Commercial Services, including Concessions and Leasing, Recreation Fees, Procurement, Financial Assistance and Charge Card programs. The Business and Administrative functions directed cover the entire spectrum of NPS operations and have significant impact on the efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of the service. Programs developed and managed support the strategic goals of workforce knowledge, organizational accountability, modernization, functional integration and providing customer value. Customers and partners include a myriad of Federal organizations that are engaged in extremely sensitive and complex activities. NPS programs comprise over 415 natural, recreational, historic, and cultural park units, which receive over 270 million visits annually. These programs are of great public interest.

SES does not have Veteran's Preference.
Individuals selected for an SES position are subject to reassignment.
You must complete a one year probationary period as a newly selected SES, unless you have served the required SES probationary period in a previous SES position.
The Department of the Interior structures its SES positions into categories to determine the minimum pay for each position. This is a Category 4 position; the minimum pay for this position is $ 156,973.00. Pay is set based on consideration of the selectee's current salary and other factors.
Qualifications
We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of working with executive teams, who possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, has an understanding of, and experience in, Commercial Services, including Concessions and Leasing, Recreation Fees, Procurement, Financial Assistance and Charge Card programs. Additionally the incumbent should have successfully managed a large, geographically dispersed organization, and has attracted and retained a highly skilled and diverse workforce.
You must clearly show that you possess the experience, knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of an executive. Technical Qualifications
1. Knowledge of financial analysis and financial management principles, concepts, systems and practices and ability to apply these principles in making recommendations on contract and lease structures, evaluating potential return on investment, advising on capital investment decisions, and advising on other management decisions driven by financial costs and benefits.
2. Mastery of business management principles, concepts, systems and practices sufficient to develop a strategic vision, implement and develop strategic plans and initiatives, evaluate performance, ensure compliance, and continually improve business processes for critical business management programs such as acquisitions, leasing, revenue generation and management, and other complex business programs.
3. Demonstrated experience enhancing the customer service experience for diverse groups of users, both internal and external, in delivery of a broad suite of business services, such as contracting, fee collection and reservation systems.
