Duties

Help
  • Assist beneficiaries in-person and/or by telephone with clarification on essential TRICARE benefits.
  • Verify patient enrollment and eligibility for services, and advises beneficiaries regarding the services available and how to access those services.
  • Utilize computer and office automation software to compile and/or type a variety of material, to include reports or memos.
  • Assist with database maintenance to ensure efficient processing and tracking of patient referrals.
  • Ensure timely referral processing for specialty care or services in accordance with DHA access to care guidelines and local processes and procedures.
  • Gather personal information for program eligibility and beneficiary needs
  • Confirm accuracy and consistency of enrollee information within the Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting System, automated healthcare system and/or other systems.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • Temporary duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 5% of the time.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 that which includes assisting healthcare providers with referral procedures; utilizing automated healthcare system; and maintaining standard operating procedures and processes for the department

OR

Education: Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
