Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Serves as a Supervisory Police Officer responsible for planning, administering, and supervising law enforcement operations which includes security operations in the Pentagon and various NCR locations.
  • The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the Tactical Medical Program, ensuring all full time and part time tactical medics are proficiently trained and certified.
  • The incumbent is responsible for rapid deployment to contain, control and neutralize any threat to the safety and welfare of the Secretary of War and the DoW community or property when incident such as criminal attack, armed intrusion, hostage taking, sniper or terrorist attacks, weapons of mass destruction, civil disobedience or barricade situations.
  • The incumbent serves as the Tactical Medic during all Counter Assault Team Operations and related training.

  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI and SAP components. A Special Background Investigation (SBI) is required with favorable adjudication by a determining authority.
  • This position requires that the incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license from the jurisdiction where he or she resides.
  • Employee must meet requirements of "Lautenberg Agreement" which outline rules regarding carrying of firearms.
  • This position requires that the incumbent must qualify bi-annually with assigned weapon(s).
  • The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE.
  • This position is subject to recall 24/7 and the employee is required to work shifts; days off vary.
  • The incumbent of this position must be in constant state of physical readiness and must be capable of demonstrating maximum physical exertion without warning.
  • Employee must take and pass annual medical and physical fitness examinations; to carry and qualify with PFPA designated weapons twice a year; to wear PPE; and to pass all designated PFPA certification programs.
  • The following medical requirements apply to all incumbents: good near and distant vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, emotional and mental stability, and the ability to hear the conversational voice.
  • As a police officer representing PFPA, it is essential that the employee present a professional and competent image, with a clean, neatly pressed uniform or attire.
  • The employee must pass the PFPA Physical Fitness Test.
  • This position is authorized for the Domicile-to-Duty Transportation Program. Domicile-to-duty mileage is limited to operators living within 50 driving miles, one way, of their duty location.
  • Retention in this position is contingent upon the successful completion and passing of all agency-trained requirements. This includes "Introduction to Field Training Programs" and any other FTO training requirements.

Qualifications

Additional Conditions of Employment:
  • Police Officers assigned to 'Special Units" may be eligible for an additional 6% supplement (Special Unit Pay) upon successful completion of required training.
  • Retention in this position is contingent upon meeting PFPA medical standards and performing duties required by the Tactical Medical Team (TMT) Special Unit.
  • This position is identified as a covered position under the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) Civilian Mobility Program, Regulation 1400.24, effective September 28, 2015.
  • Retention in this position is contingent in maintaining Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or a State level accrediting body.
  • Applicants shall possess the following certifications within 24 months of appointment to position:
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) CONTOMS EMT-T Tactical Provider
- Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Instructor
- Accredited Police or EMS Field Training Officer (FTO)
- Active Shooter Incident Management (ASJM)
- Vehicle Extrication


In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

You may qualify at the AD-9 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

One year of specialized experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (AD-7) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the positions being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in 1) protecting the health of a tactical team in harsh environments, including managing hydration, nutrition, and exposure to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) hazards; 2) safely and rapidly extracting and evacuating injured personnel from a tactical or hostile environment; 3) planning and coordinating medical support for high-risk operations, dignitary protection missions, and special events; 4) utilizing tactical medical policies and protective SOPs to ensure seamless integration and coordination during operations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: Federal agencies treat active duty service member as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligible, when they submit, as part of their application package, a "certification" of active service in lieu of a DD-214, indicating the service member is otherwise eligible and will be discharged or released within 120 days from the date of submission.. Pentagon Force Protection Agency

The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement to safeguard personnel, facilities, infrastructure, and other resources for the Pentagon Reservation and designated Department of War (DoW) facilities (hereinafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities") within the National Capital Region (NCR). PFPA addresses the full spectrum of threats by utilizing a balanced approach of comprehensive protective intelligence and counterintelligence analysis, to include forensic and biometric-enabled information, to determine the appropriate protective posture for personnel and facilities; prevention, preparedness, detection; all-hazards response; DoW emergency management; support the lead response management agency during an emergency or crisis; and provide comprehensive threat assessments, security, and protection services for Office of the Secretary of War personnel and other persons. The PFPA is the DoW focal point for collaborating and coordinating with other DoW Components, other Executive departments and agencies, and State and local authorities on matters involving force protection, security, and law enforcement activities that impact the Pentagon Facilities.
