This position is being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority and is open to U.S. Citizens and Nationals who meet all eligibility requirements, including permanent and exclusive residency within the defined vicinity of the field unit as described in this announcement. Under this authority, veterans' preference and traditional rating and ranking procedures do not apply.
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
Operates and performs operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans.
Operates dump trucks to haul earth, gravel, sand, and similar construction materials or debris such as logs, stumps, and stone.
May be assigned to assist journeyman workers in performing duties common to the trades of plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical.
May assist in the performance of duties related to other trades as required.
Does manual labor tasks, such as, pulling, and digging grass between bricks and replacing sand between brick, cleaning drainage ditches, lifting, and emptying trash containers, cleaning restrooms, picking up litter, cleaning picnic grills, etc.; works roads and trails in connection with raking and graveling.
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement.
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
Occupancy of government quarters may be required.
Government housing may be available but is not guaranteed.

You may be required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority.
You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

Physical Demands: Moderate physical effort may be required in making couplings between the vehicle and towed equipment.
