As a Nurse (Quality Improvement), GS-0610-13, you will serve as a clinical resource and expert in the development, evaluation, and implementation of policies or programs aimed at improving the quality of health care delivery for beneficiaries of CMS-administered programs.

Provide recommendations regarding clinical aspects of nursing practice and nursing programs that pertain to national-level programs that affect a variety of health care settings and clinicians.
Provide clinical nursing and program perspective in the assessment of policies, projects, and data related to the measurement of quality, legislative, and administrative proposals, and make recommendations to agency managers.
Prepare issue papers, briefing materials, manuals, presentations, reports and correspondence for an assigned health policy area.
Plan and conduct meetings and maintain ongoing liaisons with state agencies, other CMS components, DHHS agencies and external partners and organizations.

A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs(external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education(external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position.
