Requirements Continued...

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. QUALIFICATIONS:

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/14/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.

To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must meet one of the following minimum qualifications by the close of this announcement:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one full year (52 weeks) of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. You must include the hours worked per week.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include but are not limited to:
  • Providing restoration assistance, repair work, and maintenance of historic structures and landscape elements by controlling damaging agents (i.e., natural, human-caused, etc.);
  • Formulating tasks for restoration and preservation projects;
  • Following assessment guidelines in evaluating, investigating, and recording data pertaining to historic structures for purpose of determining physical condition, original style and design, and the degree of preservation/restoration required; and/or
  • Adhering to all applicable preservation and rehabilitation techniques and guidelines.
-OR-

You MUST include a copy of your transcripts with your application.

-OR-

COMBINATION: Combination of education and experience as described above. Only graduate education beyond the second full-time year can be credited. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered an academic year of graduate study. For example, 6 months of full-time specialized experience (50% of experience required) plus completion of 18 semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (45 semester hours; 50% of education requirement) would qualify an applicant for this position. You MUST include a copy of your transcripts with your application.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
