The incumbent serves as a Forensic Auditor in the Financial Investigative Services Division (FISD) within the Office of Science and Technology (OST), Financial Investigative Services Division. FISD is comprised of professionally credentialed Forensic Auditors who provide comprehensive financial investigative services supporting criminal investigations under the Bureau's jurisdiction.
Summary

The major duties of the Forensic Auditor GS-0511-12 position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides advice and assistance to ATF Special Agents and to federal, state, and local prosecutors as to his/her findings regarding the financial condition, sources, and uses of funds, and/or other financial aspects of the investigation.
Plans and conducts financial investigations of persons or entities suspected of being involved in criminal schemes.
Prepares reports, exhibits, and/or charts summarizing their findings depending on the nature of the assignment and the needs of the end user.
Research applicable databases and analyzes pertinent financial records and provides investigative leads based on results of interviews and financial analysis.
Provides formal and informal training to ATF and/or non-ATF personnel in financial investigative techniques, auditing, or related fields.

Qualifications
To qualify for the Auditor (Financial) at GS-0511-12 position you must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Degree: accounting, auditing; or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
Specialized experience must include all of:
Applying experience in forensic accounting/auditing; AND
Conducting financial investigations or complex audits involving multiples businesses; AND
Leading financial assignments and teams; AND
Developing reports and work product in compliance with standards and presenting findings to the auditee, team members, criminal investigators, prosecutors and/or triers of fact both orally and in writing.
