Duties

Help

The Equal Employment Specialist will perform analysis, conduct fact-finding, and provide recommendations on complex EEO issues affecting assigned organizational components.

In this position you will:

  • Conduct EEO informal and formal complaints processing to include counseling.
  • Monitor complaints to ensure effective and efficient completion, and takes appropriate actions to expedite complaint processing.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of the ADR Program for workplace discrimination complaints.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and assistance on efforts to establish and maintain a model EEO program in accordance with EEOC and Smithsonian directives.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service.  For this position, specialized experience is defined as negotiating and resolving conflicts, identifying barriers to equal employment opportunity, and counseling pre-complaints of discrimination in accordance with federal Equal Employment Opportunity laws and regulations.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying).

  4. Skill in identifying and defining systemic barriers to equal employment opportunity, developing concrete, practical solutions, and assisting Federal managers .
