Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Lecturer at the AD-1701-7 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serve as a senior academic administrator and subject-matter expert practitioner leader of the University. This position is for a DSCA Division Chief of the Foreign Military Sales-Center of Excellence and Professor of Practice reporting to the Dean, Workforce Education and Development, DSCU.
  • Provides strategic leadership and management for the FMS-Center of Excellence Division, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment that excellence in teaching, research, services, and engagement.
  • Responsible for the overall management of assigned resources, programs, and performance of faculty and staff assigned to and executing programs, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and strategic plan.
  • Develops, leads, and implements strategic planning for assigned programs and responsibilities, aligned with the University's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Oversees the recruitment, hiring, retention, and development of outstanding faculty and staff. Evaluates personnel performance and provides constructive feedback to support professional growth.
  • Manages the preparation and delivery of competency-based curriculum that synthesizes multiple security cooperation disciplines; curriculum refers to prepared lectures, seminars, problem-based learning, case studies, instruction, or advisory services through in-person and virtual (synchronous and asynchronous) delivery.
  • Maintains an active profile as a scholar-practitioner; continues to engage in intellectual pursuits relevant to Foreign Military Sales and the Security Cooperation enterprise, demonstrating ongoing commitment to scholarship, critical inquiry, and professional practice.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the AD-07 if you fulfill the following qualifications. Your resume must support all of the following requirements to be considered for the position. Please ensure transcripts reflecting a conferred master's degree are also provided with your application:

1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (or international equivalent) in an appropriate social science or related discipline that is relevant to the DSCU mission.

2. Fifteen (15) years of experience with the practice, training, or study of security cooperation. Experience in government, military, private sector, or academia shall be of sufficient depth or breadth as to establish professional expertise in leadership, management, planning, and execution tasks. Of the fifteen (15) years of security cooperation experience, at least five (5) years of direct experience with Foreign Military Sales (FMS), such as advising or policymaking roles, managing FMS projects, and/or executing FMS cases.

3. Substantial intellectual contribution to practice in areas of expertise through developing or revising policy, doctrine, analytic, or institutional materials, publications in peer-review publications, or invited presentations to professional, public, or academic audiences.
