As Executive Assistant, GS-0301, your typical work assignments may include, but not limited to:

Assists in providing support on matters coming before the supervisor for review.

Reviews documents, correspondence, and questions received in the office and assigns to appropriate subordinate for action.

Gathers information related to program issues and helps assemble data as directed by supervisor.

Establishes and revises office procedures to be followed by staff members and informs them clearly in a timely fashion of changes to established procedures.

Assists in obtaining information for the supervisor and staff members from various sources.

Conducts assignments involving the selection, compilation and summarization of data to be used in reports and other correspondence.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards)

GS-09:

One year of specialized experience that equips you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: Working as a team member focused on customer service; Experience implementing administrative support procedures in an office setting; Experience arranging travel for others; Experience procuring office supplies; Experience managing a calendar for a supervisor and; Experience preparing informational briefings, reports, and graphics. OR

Education: Two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree. OR

A combination of education and specialized experience that totals 100% of the requirement.

GS-11:

One year of specialized experience that equips you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: Experience implementing new administrative support procedures across multiple subordinate program offices; Experience arranging travel to multiple geographically dispersed areas; Experience tracking stock and procuring office supplies and; Experience researching and organizing factual information concerning the programs offered or used by your organization. OR

Education: Three full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education or a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or a L.L.M. in a related field or study. OR

A combination of education and specialized experience that totals 100% of the requirement.

GS-12:

One year of specialized experience that equips you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: Independently performing the full range of administrative support to politically elected or appointed staff; Experience preparing informational briefings, reports, and graphics on behalf of the supervisor using the findings from your research and; Experience using quantitative measures to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization's administrative support functions.

Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education which shows the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. The full performance level of this position is GS-12.
