Duties

Help

The Administrative Officer will serve as the primary contact for administrative matters and is responsible for the administrative functions listed below.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform and review tracking and evaluation of administrative programs including but not limited to staffing, budget, asset management, space management, safety and health, training, telework, and administrative services.
  • Serve as the contracting officer's representative (COR) for various purchase orders to acquire goods and/or services. Use the automated procurement system to submit requisitions to initiate or modify purchase order contracts.
  • Serve as an advisor and technical resource to the management of financial management matters, coordinating with the budget staff for advice and guidance as needed.
  • Participate in management planning, and decision-making meetings regarding the budget, human resources, program goals, procurement, and administrative operations and maintains notes.
  • Work closely with agency management team to identify administrative needs or problems and to rectify the situations.
  • Serve as the liaison between the organization and the DOL Office of Human Resources for all matters about staffing and coordinates HR activities.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

For GS-12: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 in the Federal Service. Applicants must meet 3 out of the 4 examples of specialized experience below.

Qualifying specialized experience includes:

  • Experience planning and coordinating administrative and business management activities in the areas of financial management, facilities management, human resources management and procurement.
  • Experience managing budget formulation, execution, and administration; preparing reports, administrative policy statements and procurement cost analysis; advising and informing management and employees of human resources rules, policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Experience using automated systems to perform various administrative functions such as procurement, travel management, financial management, etc. and human resources functions such as requests for personnel actions and time and attendance.
  • Experience providing support to program managers/directors with special projects or initiatives.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the required specialized experience for this position at the GS-12 level.
