Duties

Help

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Communicate with customers internal and external to the agency to collect and report on program information; recognizes the link between oral communication and business performance
  • Assist in the conduct of special studies and analyses related to office functions and areas of improvement such as automation, performance measurement, and process improvement that may involve the adjustments of funds, personnel, and other resources
  • Provide authoritative advice and assistance on administrative and management matters and monitors special and sensitive issues
  • Serve as the liaison between the office and other organizations internal and external to BLS concerning administrative and management activities
  • Serve on and sometimes lead task forces, committees, and other specialized groups concerning activities involving the division
  • Work independently on management studies to: evaluate, advise on, and improve the effectiveness of work methods and procedures; identify and/or resolve management problems; improve information flow and documentation; and address other issues of management concern.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

Qualifying specialized experience for the GS-13 includes ALL of the following:

  • Experience directly related to administrative and management systems;
  • Applying analytical and evaluative methods in order to propose recommendations and solutions to achieve intended results; and
  • Preparing formal documents, correspondence, and reports directly related to administrative processes.
