Duties

Help

As a Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction Coordinator at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Monitors, assesses, and evaluates all division operations, to include both subordinate Branches: the EOD Branch and the HP Branch. Ensures seamless interrelationships to identify and resolve workflow inefficiencies, redundancies, and systemic challenges.
  • Through engagements with the interagency, brings EOD and HP requirements and shared understanding to the Program Objective Memorandum (POM) portion of the PPBE process.
  • Has expert-level CWMD knowledge in advising the DoW Joint Staff's Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO) on HP and EOD radiological detection equipment acquisition initiatives for both U.S. and ally requirements fielding.
  • Develops and monitors external strategic, operational, and tactical CWMD, EOD, and HP requirements and ensures alignment with training and education objectives and customer needs.
  • Ensures that the curriculum remains forward-looking and responsive to emerging national and international policy challenges, nuclear and radiological response training, and global radiological and nuclear concerns.

  • Travel 25% CONUS/OCONUS. May be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • Valid Passport required.
  • This position requires a medical examination to ensure the physical qualifications for the position are met. This requirement will be performed under a licensed healthcare professional.
  • The employee must be willing to comply with each Combatant Command (COCOM) travel medical requirement to include vaccinations.
  • Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Assessed CBRN hazards, including nuclear weapon design, materials production, radiation detection, and radiological effects;
  • Directed explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) procedures for U.S. nuclear stockpile and recovery operations;
  • Orchestrated nuclear weapon incident response and radiological hazard operations by coordinating DoW and interagency partner responsibilities;
  • Formulated strategic course plans based on long-term assessments of EOD and HP stakeholder needs; and
  • Engineered solutions to correct identified deficiencies in CWMD training programs through comprehensive gap analysis.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required.
This position may require the use of personal protective equipment which may include chemical protective gear and a protective mask or other respiratory protection. Respiratory protection will include a medical exam to qualify on use and wear IAW 29 CFR 1910.134.

This position may require the incumbent to be exposed to ionizing radiation. Radiation monitoring may be required IAW DoDI 6055.08 Occupational Ionizing Radiation Protection Program to ensure compliance.

This position may require the incumbent to lift over 50lbs, walk and/or crawl over rough
terrain, bend over, and/or crawl/fit into tight spaces.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).
