Duties

Help

The position may be located in any of the following cities: Washington DC; Dallas, TX; Boston, MA; Atlanta, GA and Philadelphia, PA. For detailed office locations, please refer to the DOL offices. The salary range shown reflects the pay scale for all listed locations. If selected, your salary will be set based on the duty location assigned.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.
  • Monitor software licenses to ensure compliance and prevent unauthorized usage.
  • Identify and assess risks related to IT asset and configuration management.
  • Generate reports and provides insights on asset utilization, compliance, and configuration changes.
  • Design and maintain and implement hardware and software configurations for consistent deployment.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex desktop engineering issues.
  • Develop and implement standardized image libraries and deployment policies for efficient desktop configuration.
  • Ensure the system of records (ServiceNow) has accurate records for Mobile, Asset, Software and Change Management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You must meet the Basic Requirements AND the Specialized Experience to qualify for IT Specialist (IT Asset and Configuration Management Specialist), as described below.

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

AND

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must meet all of the statements below to be found qualified.

  • Knowledge and application of operating systems theories and concepts sufficient to lead a major operating systems project (e.g., installation of new operating environments or implementation of new operating systems patches, upgrades, and releases); and
  • Knowledge and application of interrelationships of multiple IT disciplines sufficient to lead IT systems development projects from design to support; and
  • Knowledge and application of project management methods and interrelationships of multiple IT disciplines sufficient to establish metrics and associated performance measurement tools.

Education may not be substituted for experience at this level.
