Duties

Help

As a SUPERVISORY LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0346-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Global Bulk Fuel Plans Branch, provides strategic planning expertise, and exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represents USTRANSCOM with a variety of installation and functional area organizations, establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with TCC's, Unified Commands, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Staff, Military Services, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), General Services Administration, other DOD and Federal level agencies, and commercial transportation organizations.
  • Serves as an expert and the primary point of contact for the command to the Joint Staff, OSD, Unified Commands, Services and Agencies for management of the Bulk Fuel Plans Branch; provides planning, assessment, and logistics expertise for joint petroleum policy, CONOPs, and processes.
  • Directs the development, implementation, and marketing of state-of-the-art business practices for the command to the Joint Staff, OSD, Unified Commands, Services and Agencies, provides deployment, distribution and logistics expertise in the understanding of modeling, simulation, and optimization to institutionalize, maintain, and continuously improve global bulk fuel distribution, and movement activities and capabilities.

  • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions
  • This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507 (see other notes for additional information)
  • Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Providing logistics management and transportation expertise.
  • Advising and providing counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures and directives.
  • Researching, interpreting, analyzing, and applying supply chain best practices within DOD regulations, business process management, and business rules.
  • Balancing workload and providing advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of logistics and administrative issues.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Key Position: This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.

May be required to participate in non-traditional work schedules involving participation in round the clock operations, or otherwise work beyond, or outside of traditional hours, or work or tours of duty.

Employee may be required to travel by commercial or military aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY/TAD assignments).
