Duties

Help

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintaining a robust physical security program by leveraging physical security program regulations and established methodologies. Reviews and analyzes security regulations for impact on agency practices and operations, and develops agency physical security policies, standards, and guidelines. Consults and communicates with agency and industry stakeholders.
  • Planning, developing, reviewing, evaluating, implementing and maintaining security programs to address deficiencies necessary to meet and accomplish existing or evolving security mission goals and formalize findings in official reports.
  • Strengthening and maintaining all protective systems and equipment, identifying improvements and upgrades to ensure that agency information, equipment, and other material is not compromised and safeguarded from a myriad of threats, including but not limited to sabotage, theft, insider threat, terrorist, malicious mischief, or other acts of willful negligence.
  • Serving as program manager for the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) - 12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) program in coordination with DOL and other security stakeholders, ensuring regulatory and program compliance while providing quality customer service
  • Serving as a program manager for the BLS Occupant Emergency Plan (OEP) program. Ensuring regulatory requirements are met, training agency personnel, and coordinating within and outside of BLS in the execution of all aspects of the program.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is the experience that equipped an applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-12, in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as:

  • Contributing to the safety and physical protection of property and personnel from unwarranted intrusion or other infractions of the peace of property, including formulating written plans or reports and conducting assessments;
  • Recommending solutions for complex safety hazard and security vulnerability issues; and
  • Implementing measures to eliminate, mitigate, or control such hazards and vulnerabilities.
