Serving as a Training Technician GS-1702-8/9 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Training Management Operations Directorate (TMO) within the Training Management Division (TMD) located in Glynco, Georgia.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical support for the Law Enforcement Program Specialists and Instructional Systems Designers assigned to the TMD.

Typical duties include:

  • Participating in a wide variety of administrative functions related to the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) of training programs to include analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation and review phases.
  • Assisting Law Enforcement Program Specialists and providing administrative support to conduct Curriculum Review Conferences (CRC), Curriculum Design Conferences (CDC) and working groups.
  • Providing comprehensive support for CRCs/CDCs and working groups to include preparing handouts, scribing notes, publishing meeting minutes and drafting after action reports.
  • Assisting the evaluation and analysis branch with the administration of course and program evaluations.
  • Performing collateral duties that include administrative support functions.

Specialized Experience for the GS-09: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
1) Coordinating the administrative functions of training delivery programs using Instructional Systems Design principles.; 2) Providing technical guidance or troubleshooting for training related issues related to e-learning and learning management systems.; 3) Reviewing class administration tasks such as preparing classroom materials, coordinating schedules and monitoring student conduct.; 4) Supporting curriculum review processes.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Specialized Experience for the GS-08: You qualify for the GS-08 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level, or pay band in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private sector or public sector performing the following duties:
1) Assisting with the administrative functions of training delivery programs using Instructional Systems Design principles; 2) Facilitating with training related issues related to e-learning and learning management systems.; 3) Reviewing class administration tasks such as preparing classroom materials.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Re-employed annuitants' annual salaries will be reduced by the amount of their retirement annuity and by further cost of living increases. Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of our mission, the FLETC requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. All selected applicants must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation for suitability as a condition of placement in this non-sensitive position. Physical Demands: The work require some walking up and down stairs and driving to various training venues. Must be capable of carrying equipment sometimes weighing up to 30 pounds, standing up to three hours, and possess a valid vehicle driver's license.

Work Environment: The work is performed mostly indoors in an office or classroom setting at a training delivery point. On occasion, the position will be required to meet students or others outdoors to resolve training- related issues. This involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require routine safety precautions in such places as law enforcement practical exercise areas or during adverse weather conditions.
