This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Training coordinator for certification programs related to obstetrics and gynecology, fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation and other programs required by agency.
Assess, analyze, and resolve problems related to training and education issues.
Develop curriculum, lesson plans and training materials for continuing education credits, prepares after action reports to evaluate effectiveness.
Research and implement evidenced-based teaching methodology to enhance training and education opportunities.
Support the clinical activities of the services and departments with educational support, relating to health care improvement opportunities.
Present comprehensive plans for short-term and long-range goals for future Professional Programs training and education.
Provide comprehensive professional obstetrical nursing care to OB/GYN patients and their newborns with medical conditions ranging from routine to complex.
Design, implement, and evaluate bereavement programs and material.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 25lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
Must obtain and maintain current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training and certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) which includes 1) Providing comprehensive nursing care to obstetric and/or gynecology patients; 2) Developing evidenced-based teaching methodologies to enhance training and education opportunities; and 3) Gathering data to analyze training needs of clinic staff.

Education: Two and a half years (i.e., 45 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education in nursing with a concentration in a field of nursing (e.g., teaching, a clinical specialty, research, administration) or in a closely related non-nursing field directly related to the position.

EXEMPTION: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.
