Help
  • Serves as a Child and Youth Services Nurse with responsibility for all health support services in CYS programs.
  • Coordinates and/or provides specialized training to and oversight of staff responsible for providing services to children/youth who have more complex health care needs.
  • Assists in training of staff, providers, volunteers and/or parents on health related topics.
  • Conducts routine health/sanitation inspections of CYS Services programs using Army standardized checklists. Assists/supports facilities/homes in maintaining appropriate standards for condition, health, and sanitation.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between CYS Services and the installation Community Health Nurse. Communicates with trainers, Special Needs Director, Environmental Health, schools, and physicians to clarify roles in health support/services.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Maintenance of current license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must complete a health assessment including all required immunizations.
  • Travel to on and off post locations required. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Position requires availability to work shifts during all hours of program operation, which may include some evening/weekend hours.
  • Must have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
  • Must obtain and maintain credentials to instruct staff in administration of CPR/First Aid.
  • Incumbent is a mandated reporter of all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time
the program was completed by the applicant. Must have active, current registration as a professional nurse (RN) in a State,
District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

In addition to the above, applicants must have at least one of the following:

1. One year of specialized experience equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level
2. Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education or a master's or equivalent degree in the field of nursing.

Highly-qualified candidates will have experience in pediatric nursing and/or working with children/youth with special needs.

In addition to the above, highly preferred candidates will also possess the following:

  • Experience with epidemiology, transmission, and control of communicable diseases, particularly those impacting children and young people?
  • Experience with Army Regulation 608-10 (Child and Youth Services) and its application to health and safety standards in military childcare settings.
  • Experience with immunization schedules and public health guidelines relevant to youth populations and outbreak response protocols?

PCS Costs:
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.

  • Incentives and bonuses will not be paid.
