Summary

This Supervisory Nurse position serves as the Chief Nurse Executive for the Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC), of Polacca, Arizona. This position serves in an executive capacity with membership on the HHCC executive committee, the Governing Board, and exercises full managerial responsibility and accountability for the planning, organization, and administration of services. This position reports to Chief Executive Officer.

  • Participates in the formulation of policies, programs and procedures related to the delivery of services including development of programs for improving patient services coupled with accreditation and fiscal requirements.
  • Participates in top management decisions and policy making, while sharing management actions with staff, except those requiring privacy or confidentiality.
  • Maintain systems tor monitoring quality assessment, JCAHO accreditation, fiscal management, GPRA, Medicare and other IHS standards.
  • Planning in-services activities to meet the current needs of the patient population, directing patient teaching toward preventive health measures, planning and individualized orientation programs in relation to the needs of personnel assigned to the department, planning for improvement of nursing care through participation in ward conferences, and evaluating quality of patient care through review of chart audit.
  • Formulates divisional programs to address patient volume, priorities for services and patient care objectives.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks, examples include: Organize and manage the nursing service program of a medical facility; supervise subordinate staff; prepare work performance plans, schedules, and evaluated work performance of subordinate staff; as a supervisor initiate and submit required information to fill vacant positions, promote subordinate staff, give advice, counsel or instruction to subordinate staff on administrative matters, hear and resolve complaints from staff, effect disciplinary measures when needed; implement and maintain accreditation requirements; and initiate and uphold quality assurance and improvement methodologies.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.

Recruitment and/or Relocation Incentives and/or Permanent Change of Station may be authorized and is subject to availability and service unit approval.
