Qualifications
To qualify for the Occupational Health Nurse, PU -0610-11, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current active full and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
AND
3. Experience/Education:
In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following:
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field; OR
At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the PU-9 grade level) which includes: (1) Recognizing life-threatening emergencies, initiating immediate stabilizing care and coordinating with emergency medical services for timely transport to a healthcare facility; (2) Providing services as an occupational health nurse in an industrial-clinic environment; (3) Experience in emergency room and trauma treatment; (4) Ability to work autonomously, using critical thinking skills while managing multiple tasks simultaneously; and (5) Basic computer skills and the ability to operate an electronic medical records system, ANDpossession of a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program.

In addition to the basic requirements listed above, applicants must possess the following certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS); and
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Background Investigation - For a Suitability:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. This position requires a background investigation for Suitability. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background check for Suitability. This review could include fingerprints and credit checks, as well as a full field FBI background investigation and tax and bar checks for attorney applicants. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position. This process may take 6 weeks or longer.
