Duties

Help

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC), your typical work assignments may include:

  • Supervises employees performing work at the GS-13 level. Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.
  • Plans and develops policies, procedures, and strategies that ensure optimization and integration in the installation, configuration and maintenance of the IT operating environment agency wide.
  • Manages IT projects with high complexity or risk, such as agency wide system integrations that include large scale enterprise resource planning.
  • Plans and investigates mission-critical cybersecurity violations that affect the integrity of agency wide IT infrastructure, such as unauthorized access to financial systems or national security data.
  • Reviews and evaluates security incident response policies. Identifies the need for change based on new security technologies or threats. Tests and implements new policies, and institute measures to ensure awareness and compliance.

Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement. If you are qualifying based on education or if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application.

Applicants applying for the GS-14 pay grade must meet the following requirements:

Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing and/or leading Information Security functions and providing technical support and advice; 2) Analyzing the design of cyber security systems; 3) Resolving integration/interoperability issues related to the implementation of new cyber security methodologies with the existing systems infrastructure.

AND

In addition to the above specialized experience, applicants must also meet the IT-Related proficiency level for all four of the competencies listed below:

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientiously attends to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individual who uses or receives the services or products that your work or unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; and is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues; and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
