The duties and responsibilities for a Records and Information Management Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as the Records Manager and is a key member of the component in the establishment and promotion of records management programs affecting Organization at an agency-wide level.
Contribute knowledge and experience with fundamental records management practices such as conducting inventories, developing and maintaining File Plans, drafting and implementing records schedules.
Assist component employees in proper administration of the component paper and electronic records programs, including guidance on developing new and revised records schedules.
Monitor the components FOIA/PA program to provide feedback to component leadership on effectiveness and deficiencies.
Conduct research to identify legal issues involved in the processing of records which entails utilizing the appropriate databases, and consulting with other department components, federal agencies, and various libraries (including the Library of Congress and the Presidential Libraries).
Execute liaison operations for component FOIA/PA, Citizen Mail and records management activity.
You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
You must be a current permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.
You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Records and Information Management Specialist, (GS-0308-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.
For the GS-13: Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as identifying strategies for analyzing, implementing and/or evaluating Record and Information Management (RIM) programs/projects.
