Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for reviewing program operations to determine the effectiveness of established procedures.
  • You will be responsible for updating staff on immunization industry changes that will affect patient treatment and care.
  • You will be responsible for interpreting nursing guidelines to meet the evolving needs of the patient.
  • You will be responsible for exercising judgement to make decisions relevant to the development and implementation of the immunization program.
  • You will be responsible for utilizing current basic life support BLS) requirements, the ability and knowledge to perform basic emergency care in the case of immunization anaphylaxis or cardiopulmonary arrest is required.
  • You will be responsible for the ability to conduct various clinical duties such as vital signs, vision testing, EKGs, vaccine administration, etc.
  • You will be responsible for having knowledge of the modes of action, routes of entry, and body systems affected by toxic substances as well as acute and chronic effects of industrial agents and trauma.
  • You will be responsible for having the knowledge and ability to collect, organize, document and communicate relevant health assessment data.
  • You will be responsible for working with computers and have a working knowledge of common software programs such as MS Office, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience performing a variety of clinical tasks, including reading vital signs, conducting vision tests, and administering vaccines.
  • Experience implementing nursing assessments and determining fitness for duty.
  • Experience managing chronic medical conditions, medications, industrial hygiene, and environmental health and safety.
  • Experience evaluating medical conditions, analyzing results, and developing care plans.
  • Experience applying current Basic Life Support protocols and delivering basic emergency care.


In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
  • Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
