This position will be filled under the Office of Personnel Management's Direct Hire Authority and is open to all United States citizens and U.S. nationals. As a Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Maintains contact and communication with biologists throughout the assigned organization and the Service, as needed, and with other agencies (federal, tribal, and state) with similar programs. Provides technical biological guidance for the program area of the assigned organization. Cultivates relationships with local and state representatives and interacts with other federal agencies, university professionals, Native American officials, and state government officials for the purpose of disseminating scientific and resource information.
Coordinates, collects, and processes field data for analysis according to established procedures, as methods and techniques. Gathers, organizes, and interprets a wide variety of biological, ecological, pathological, public use data or other information pertinent to scientific studies.
Conducts field experiments using a wide variety of data-collection systems and extracts and analyzes data from these systems. Develops and maintains computer databases; and gathers, analyzes, tabulates, and summarizes scientific, programmatic, and/or budgetary data. Utilizes a wide variety of data visualization methods and techniques to communicate data and data analysis findings accurately and effectively to various audiences including FWS management and staff, stakeholders, and partners.
Identifies feasible alternatives to restore natural resources and habitats by modifying and adapting standard techniques, processes, and procedures; assessing and applying precedents; and devising strategies and plans; conducts site visits and studies as necessary to document pre- and post-restoration conditions and services provided.
Reviews and/or prepares work plans, budgets, program accomplishment reports, and technical reports of findings, conclusions, and/or recommendations regarding appropriate courses of action such as management approval/disapproval, offering alternative projects or approaches, or taking remedial action. Conducts program analyses, and reviews results of studies or investigations. Prepares reports that include recommendation for changes, elimination, or improvement of operations and program plans.

In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
Basic Requirement:
A bachelor's degree or higher in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. I will submit my transcripts with my application that verifies this. OR
A combination of education and experience that included coursework equivalent to a major (i.e. 24 semester/36 quarter hours or school equivalent) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines as shown in A above, PLUS appropriate experience or additional education, and in combination equals 100% of the basic requirements.
Minimum Qualification [GS-11]
One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Qualifying experience includes: (1) Assists with conventional investigations, assessments or inspections involving a full range of biological, chemical, and physical processes, (2) Analyzes and synthesizes quantitative and qualitative data using a wide variety of methods and software in ways that support project needs, (3) Coordinates with representatives of other federal agencies, state, tribal and local organizations, conservation organizations, private entities, and the general public, and (4) Prepares work plans, budgets, program accomplishment reports, and technical reports of findings. NOTE: Your resume must contain sufficient information in these areas to be found qualified. OR
Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education, in a discipline directly related to the position, leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree, in a discipline directly related to the position. OR
A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement
